Beck– The Unclaimed Girl

A little girl is found dead in an abandoned earth cellar. She lies neatly tucked in with freshly prepared food beside her; but the forensic examination shows that she has been dead for some time. No child has been reported missing. Who is she? How did she end up in that place? Who has put fresh food out for an obviously dead child? The only properties in the vicinity of the earth cellar are a lonely cottage and a mansion.
The cottage’s owner has vanished and the family living in the mansion insist they’ve never heard of the girl. Or are they concealing something from the police?
